Passengers with specialtravel needs
If you plan your journey with Bees Airline and require a special condition, equipment and/or assistance, please notify us 72 hours before your scheduled departure date in order that we can make the necessary arrangements for you.
Unfortunately, in some cases, Bees Airline may refuse to transport passengers with special travel needs if the design of the aircraft or its hold doors make boarding/transportation physically impossible or when transporting would be a violation of the flight safety rules.
Passengers with reduced mobility
We will be happy to make the flight comfortable for passengers with reduced mobility or for those who require special attention and adaptation to their specific needs due to any other disability or age. Please give us all relevant information 72 hours before you travel.
Some travelers will be requested to provide a permission certificate from their physician, which must be dated within 7 days of departure and certify the passenger’s fitness for travel by air to the country of destination.
The fit for travel certificate should also include information about passenger health condition and any additional requirements to be considered during the flight, and should confirm that the passenger is medically fit to travel by air.
Medical Information Form
To assess the acceptability of the passenger’s medical condition and determine the conditions of transportation a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) may be required.
The following categories of passengers should provide MEDIF:
- expecting mothers beyond 7 months (28 weeks) of pregnancy;
- persons in need of supplemental oxygen or other medical supplies and equipment during the flight;
- persons who use or are under the influence of any narcotic drug;
- travelers whose appearance or behavior may be stressful for other passengers.
Please, provide your MEDIF not later than 72 hours before the departure so that we are able to arrange for special equipment, supplies, assistance, etc.
A timely completed and submitted MEDIF will be accepted by us provided that any medical requirement and air travel restriction specified in it are possible to be satisfied.
Medical clearance is valid for stable medical conditions only. If, within the period from getting a medical clearance and the scheduled date of departure, a person experiences any severe health deterioration, a new clearance must be requested.
Medical clearance by phone is not permitted.
Medical clearance, supplies and equipment are not required for the passengers:
- with visual and hearing impairments;
- who use wheelchairs;
- who use crutches;
- who need assistance to move through the airport;
- with chronic and stable medical conditions or those with disabilities (congenital or long-term ones) who have a Frequent Traveler’s Medical Card (FREMEC) issued by the medical department of any IATA member airline.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchair users are strongly advised to inform the airline of their travel at their earliest convenience, and in any case not later than 48 hours before the travel.
Wheelchairs will be carried in the aircraft hold as checked baggage only.
Manual wheelchairs are accepted for carriage without any limitations.
Wheelchairs with dry cell or gel cell batteries must be transported in compliance with the following requirements:
- the battery must be disconnected;
- the battery terminals must be insulated to prevent short circuits;
- the battery must be securely attached to the wheelchair;
- the wheelchair should always be in an upright position.
If it is not possible to transport the wheelchair in an upright position, the battery must be disconnected and packed in a special container filled with an absorbent material to soak up spilled electrolyte. The wheelchair can then be transported as checked baggage without any restrictions.
Supplemental oxygen
Passengers who require supplemental oxygen for therapeutic purposes during the flight should notify the airline 48 hours before their travel and meet the following conditions:
- a medical clearance must be obtained;
- a passenger must provide the airline with MEDIF or FREMEC which confirms the need to use supplemental oxygen on board;
- the oxygen equipment transportation must be preapproved with the airline;
- a passenger must provide information about the oxygen equipment type, weight and size;
- the oxygen equipment must be accompanied by a safety instruction or any similar document.
PLEASE, NOTE!
- Bees Airline provides no supplemental medical oxygen on board.
- Liquid oxygen systems are forbidden for carriage on aircraft.
- Oxygen bags are not accepted for carriage.
Oxygen cylinder requirements:
- portable oxygen cylinders of max 5 kg with oxygen gas or oxygen-enriched air are accepted for carriage only;
- the oxygen cylinder, its valves and regulators, if any, must be serviceable and undamaged to prevent it from any possible leaking.
Portable oxygen concentrator requirements:
- the oxygen concentrator must be approved for use on aircraft;
- the oxygen concentrator must have a respective certificate to be provided to the airline when booking/ticketing;
- the number of batteries must be enough to power the portable oxygen concentrator throughout the entire journey, including any transfers and unexpected delays. A passenger can bring two types of batteries with lithium content: batteries under 8g of lithium content are allowed in unlimited quantities, and batteries from 8g to 25g of lithium content are allowed up to two items, each packaged separately to prevent short circuits.
If necessary, the passenger can carry own empty oxygen tank as checked baggage.
Mothers-to-be and women after childbirth
Expecting mothers, starting from the 28th week of pregnancy, must provide a medical certificate stating the pregnancy stage and the fitness to air travel.
The doctor’s note (medical certificate) should include the following information:
- number of weeks of pregnancy;
- type of pregnancy (single/multiple);
- a confirmation that the pregnancy has no complications;
- a confirmation from the obstetrician that the air travel is safe for the pregnant woman.
In case of international flights the certificate must be in English.
The air travel is not permitted:
- for pregnant women after 35 weeks of pregnancy even upon presentation of the medical certificate;
- for mothers carrying multiples after 32 weeks of pregnancy;
- in the first 7 days after childbirth.
Pregnant women traveling with another child (infant) should ensure, according to flight safety rules, an adult passenger to accompany that child.
